Off the notes app
and the sheet.
A spreadsheet holds everything and understands none of it. It will not convert micrograms to units, will not know a vial is nearly empty, and will not tell you which side you used last. pinning is the same record with the arithmetic and the inventory built in.
What actually goes wrong
Most people start in Notes or a spreadsheet, and for a while it works. What breaks is not the storing — it is that the sheet cannot answer the questions you actually have.
How many units is this dose? How much is left in that vial? When did I last use this site? Every one of those is arithmetic or lookup, and doing it by hand is where the mistakes are.
How pinning handles it
The arithmetic stops being yours
Concentration, volume, units on either syringe scale, doses remaining in a vial. Entered once, recalculated every time rather than re-derived by hand.
Your data stays yours
A full JSON export lives in Settings, free, under the same login — and deleting the account erases everything at once. Moving in does not mean being stuck.
It is stored in the EU
Frankfurt. Nothing is sold, there are no advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking.
What it will not do for you
- — There is no importer. An existing sheet has to be entered by hand, and for a long history that is real work.
- — It is more opinionated than a blank spreadsheet: a dose belongs to a schedule and a vial, and that structure is the point rather than an option.
- — It will not do the analysis a spreadsheet can be bent into. There are no custom formulas.
Can I import my spreadsheet into pinning?
No — there is no importer, so existing history has to be entered by hand. For a long log that is genuinely tedious, and it is worth knowing before you start rather than after.
Can I get my data back out?
Yes. A full JSON export sits in Settings, free, under the same login. Deleting your account erases everything immediately.
What does an app do that a spreadsheet cannot?
Arithmetic and lookup, continuously. Units from a concentration, what is left in a vial after each dose, when a site was last used, and a level curve between injections — none of which a sheet computes on its own.
